Hi,

I have, what seems like a simple questions, but I can't seem to wrap my head around it. Looking for suggestions or ideas.

I am new to a local Rural Volunteer Fire Department as well as (12) others. What I would like to do is create a map that only contains our townships roads. Right now, we all use binders, seach for the road and flip to the map page. GPS units take too long to punch in and always find roads in other cities on other planets......

What I would like to do is use google maps or somehting, but only have it search my area. So when I hit "spencer rd" the map takes me to a point on that road. - instead of giving me every spencer rd in the world with options....

like a mini-customized pre-programed GPS.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I am toying with just an interactive excel sheet too.

I run either a BB playbook or Asus tablet that I would be using when I jump in the car to get to a scene. Still safer than flipping through a binder and looking at a piece of paper. Our FD is small and our paging systems are outdated and we have no money for proper systems at this time!

We can create a fire department map around your local vicinity. We propose the map to be like this.

1) Create a map project in our Google Map Builder from iMapBuilder Online and centered in your city or the fire department.
2) We add a custom location search function, allowing you to type in the street name or local amenities name to look them up on the map. The custom search function includes a pre-defined search term so that the results would be returned for your city/vicinity only.
