First Time Users
- What is iMapBuilder?
- iMapBuilder is a user-friendly map making software. You can mark locations on map, display information and add it to your website or blog. HTML5 maps are cross-device compatible. Please get a free trial version.
Create map for website or blog - What are the limitations of the free trial version?
- The free trial version has no time limit, but there are watermarks on output and display maximum 8 markers. You can enjoy a full version by purchasing a license.
- Are your maps capable of displaying on a touch screen device?
- Yes, HTML5 maps are touch friendly.
- Can your maps resize automatically in responsive website (e.g. WordPress)?
- Yes, our maps are responsive, you can select Responsive Map options in embed code section.
- I cannot install iMapBuilder, it requires an admin account .What can I do?
- For First time installation
- Account with admin rights is required.
- It is recommended to use the same user account in both installation and running the software.
- If admin rights are not granted to user account for some reasons, you should
- install iMapBuilder using the account the admin rights
- running iMapBuilder using an account with the read / write permission to his / her user application data folder
Note: You can open a window explorer to access user application data folder by typing "%appdata%"
- Installing on a share environment is not recommended.
Please remove the old copy of the software, clear up the temporary folder and reinstall with steps below:
- Close iMapBuilder.
- Uninstall it.
- Open a Window Explorer, type in "%appdata%" navigate to the user's application data folder.
- Search for "iMapBuilder_HTML5" folder and delete this temporary folder.
- Install with an administrator account.
- Can maps of iMapBuilder Flash be loaded in the HTML5 Edition?
- Flash maps cannot be loaded in the HTML5 Edition as they are different products.
Registration and License
- I started a project on trial and then I register. How to remove watermarks?
- You need to install the software and maps ( if applicable) using information from the system mail. If you have projects created in a trial version, you can update it by File > Update map in project.

- I purchased a software copy and installed, but why watermarks are there?
- Please check if the map template included in your package here.
- I have formatted my computer. How can I re-download the registered software?
- You can request the download link again here within support period.
- I just need one or specific maps, what offer suit for me?
- You can select maps you need from here, they need to be edited with our software e.g. Developer Pack.
Payment Option
- Do I need a PayPal account to submit payment?
- You do not need a PayPal account as PayPal also accepts credit or debit cards. When you reach PayPal from our registration page, please take note to the option "Don't have a PayPal account" towards the bottom of the right pane. Clicking on that link would lead you to the form to enter your debit or credit card details.
(Note: You may be shown a different language version of this page, depending on your browser settings but the context is similar) - Is the purchase of software a one-time payment?
- Yes, the software (desktop edition) is a one-time payment that we do not charge subscription fee.
Features
- How can I build multi-level interactive maps?
- You can create several projects using iMapBuilder HTML5, and connect them up by using hyperlinks that originated from markers or regions.
- Create maps for each level. When they are done, remember to publish each project to a separate folder so that files will not be mixed up. Please take note to URL(s) to be used.
- Open the project that you want to link up with another map. Select the marker or region and enter the URL of the map you want to link up with. For details, please refer to user guide sections of region and marker.
- Repeat step 2 until you have finished setting up the links. Save the updated project and publish to the server again. Remember to choose the right folder to avoid messing up with the others.
- Can the HTML5 maps that created by iMapBuilder be cached in iPad?
I want to know if HTML5 maps, which created by iMapBuilder HTML5, can be delivered in offline for iPad. - iMapBuilder maps can work offline without network connection. In order to view the files on iPad, you would need to create your own manifest files.
- Can HTML5 maps be viewed in Window XP?
- iMapBuilder software works well in Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or above. If you have difficulty in previewing the map in browser, please consider to update your web browser, details here.
- Does the iMapBuilder HTML5 support Adobe Edge on the Apple Mac?
I am using the Macbook Pro Retina, and need to create maps by using Adobe Edge or other products that support HTML5. Are there ways to import HTML5 image map files into Adobe? - Adobe claims that their Edge Animate software works on existing pages to add HTML5/ CSS3/ JavaScript animations, so you may need to add the HTML code in any text editor (even TextEdit works), and open in Edge Animate to further work on your project.
- Can iMapBuilder software runs on Mac OS?
- iMapBuilder is a software for Windows. To remedy this, there are 2 different options:
- You may sign up a free trial account here for iMapBuilder Online - a web based map maker that works on both PC and Mac. Flash and Custom Google Maps are available.
- You can use BootCamp to install Windows on your Mac and then boot into Windows to install the software. You may also create Windows virtual machine by using emulator software (such as Parallel Desktop, VMWare Fusion or Oracle VirtualBox) and install the software inside.
- Can I create an infobox when mouse on click the marker?
- Mouseover infobox is available instead, and here is the guide about creating infobox for markers.
- How can I create custom image map ?
- Please try our product iiCreator for custom image map.
- How can I plot locations into maps?
- You can plot locations using latitude and longitude coordinates.
- Are your map templates geographically accurate?
- Most templates are geographically accurate which enables you to pinpoint locations using latitude and longitude coordinates. (Except a few presentation maps.)
- Can I insert multiple images to the info box?
- Info box in iMapBuilder HTML5 supports HTML code, so it is possible to have more than one images.
0:49" - Insert image in marker infobox - Why my map doesn't load markers?
- Some Windows servers do not add the .svg extension to the MIME type by default, please follow the steps below or contact your web hosting company for this issue.
Adding .svg MIME type in IIS- Select the site to configure in IIS, right click and select "Properties"
- Under HTTP Headers Tab, select "File Types" under the MIME Map section and select "New Type"
- Type ".svg" as the associated extension and "image/svg+xml" as the content type.
- Select "OK".
- How to add video in marker tooltips?

- Click the Share link under the video.
- Click the Embed link.
- Copy the code provided in the expanded box.

Vimeo:
- Hover your cursor over the video player.
- Click the Share button.
- Copy the code from the Embed field.

For other video-sharing application such as A4Desk Video Player:
- Publish a video player project to local.
- Check the Use Full Path option and enter the path that your files will be uploaded to.
- Click Copy to Clipboard.
- Click Upload to transfer the player to your web server.

YouTube:
- Select a marker.
- Choose HTML Code Editor option in infobox.
- Paste the video embed code.
- Then save, publish and upload your map.

- iMapBuilder let you create interactive map and add to webpage. For details please refer to here.
- Can I add map in WordPress? I want to have an interactive map in my post.
- Normally, you cannot upload files other than media to WordPress. Therefore, you need to upload the published files to another server and embed it remotely. You may refer to here.
- My site is using content management system. Can I use your map for Joomla?
- You can create a new article with the interactive map in Joomla.
- How to insert map into PowerPoint?
- You can save map as image and then add it to PowerPoint.
- Is there a way to make the initial display of the map larger?
- You can first enlarge the publish map size and then adjust default zoom level, please refer to here.
- Why the HTML5 map cannot be read in IE9? How can I resolve it?
- You can add the following code within the <head> tag of your page to
force the map to be displayed in IE9:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge"/> - Are your maps compatible with GoDaddy?
- If you have a GoDaddy web hosting account, you should be able to upload files using FTP. You may contact their customer service for details.
- Can I embed HTML5 maps in a BBcode module?
- HTML5 maps require JavaScript and SVG to work but BBcode module only supports HTML code. Therefore it is not feasible.
