Add and Manage Markers

Pinpoint your locations on the map by adding markers.

Add markers on the map

Add markers for the first time

  1. Make sure that you are in Edit Mode. Click the Edit Mode button below the horizontal toolbar if you are not.
  2. Click the Add Markers button on the vertical toolbar.
  3. The Select Icon dialog box comes up and you can choose the marker icon to denote your pins. The chosen icon will be used as the default marker icon for markers added from now on until you change it in the Marker Properties panel.
  4. You can also import your own custom map icons
  5. Go to your desired location and drop the marker directly on the map.
  6. Click the Select button on the vertical toolbar to finish.

Add more markers

  1. Switch to Edit Mode by clicking the Edit Mode button.
  2. Click the Add Markers button on the vertical toolbar.
  3. Go to your desired location and drop the marker directly on the map. You can add multiple markers in one time and they will share the same marker icon.
  4. Click the Select button on the vertical toolbar to finish.

Import markers using lat/ long

You can now import markers by using latitude/ longitude values from data file.

Procedure:


  1. Click the Import button in horizontal toolbar.
  2. Select Import Marker in the dropdown list.
  3. Click Import Data File in the popup wizard.
  4. Click Select a sample data file > OK to download the sample file for reference.
    You can add markers with following data into the software:
    • Marker Name, Latitude/ Longitude Values, Marker Label, Label Position, Icon, Icon Size, Infobox Content, Inserted URL, URL Target Location, Category ID
  5. After downloading the sample data, you can modify or edit your own data file.
  6. Back to the Import Data File wizard, click Load a data file, and then upload your own data file to the software.
  7. Click the "Marker Label Style" button to change the font and color style of marker label
  8. There are "New", "Delete", and "Delete All" buttons in the bottom of the wizard that you can quickly add/ delete data in the data list.
  9. After editing all the markers' data, click Apply to complete the importing procedure.

Marker properties

You can change the properties of each marker in the following ways.

  • Click the Select button on the vertical toolbar, and choose the marker you want to change.
  • Expand the Markers Panel to the right hand side and select the marker from the list.

Here is the complete list of Marker Properties.

Properties Description
Category ID Assign the marker to a category.
Marker Icon Showing the marker icon of the selected marker. To change the icon:
  1. Click the icon to open the Select Icon dialog.
  2. Choose from the default set of icons, or import your own by choosing the Import Icons button to the bottom left. PNG and JPG images are supported as custom icons, and all imported images are listed under (Custom Icons) in the dialog.
Width Select the width from dropdown or type in directly
Height Select the height from dropdown or type in directly
Label Set the label text to be shown alongside with the marker icon.
  • Enter the text you want to display in the text box.
  • Click the Change Label Settings button for typeface, size, color and offset position changes.

    • Font: Format the label by changing the typeface, size, color, style and weight in this section.
    • Label Offset: Specify the number of pixels the label moves from its position:
      • X-offset: The label text will move horizontally in the number of pixels specified in the box. Positive values move the label to the right, while negative values move the label to the left.
      • Y-offset: The label text will move vertically in the number of pixels specified in the box. Positive values move the label to the bottom, while negative values move the label to the top.
Position Denote how the label text is aligned with the marker icon, and these are the options:
  • Top
  • Bottom
  • Left
  • Right
  • Center - Label text will overlap the marker icon.
Latitude/ Longitude Show the latitude and longitude values of the marker. These values are not valid for map templates with the word "(Pres)".
Change Latitude and Longitude Position Click the Crosshair button to directly enter the latitude and longitude values of the marker in the dialog box. Decimal values are supported. Use negative values for southern latitudes and western longitudes.
Action
Link to Web Address Set the URL of the marker so that it would open the link when it is clicked. Enter your desired web address in the first box, and choose the target of the link in the second drop down menu. Here are the options:
  • New Window (_blank)
  • Same Frame (_self)
  • Parent Frame (_parent)
  • Root Frame (_top)
  • You may enter the name of the frame as the link target.
Show infobox Enter the content you want to display upon hovering the marker by the mouse pointer. Our infobox supports HTML content, so you can add formatted text, images, videos and even forms to the infobox. Please ensure that your content is well-formed and syntactically correct to avoid any formatting or display issues.

If you are not familiar with coding, you could add infobox content using Rich Text Editor.
  • Select "Rich Text Editor"
  • Mouse click in the space below, and then an "Infobox Wizard" will be popped up
  • Select an infobox layout
  • Upload an image and edit the size of it
  • Enter and edit text content using tools in the menu bar
  • Click "OK" to complete the editing
