Background Color and Style

This guide focuses on changing the background color and style of the map.

You can change the background color and style by following these steps.

  1. Click the Background color and style button under General Setting of the Map Properties panel.
  2. A dialog box comes up and you can change the following properties:

Color and Opacity

You can change the color by using the color palette and the opacity by entering a value from 0 - 100. (0 for transparent and 100 for opaque).

Border

You can change the border color and style in this section.

  • Style: We provide these line styles: solid, dashed and dotted. You can change to none if you don't need any borders.
  • Width: Enter the border width in pixels or select the width you want from the drop down menu.
  • Color: Select a color for the borders.

Shadow

You can add shadows to the map in this section.

Item Description
X-offset The map shadow will move horizontally in the number of pixels specified in the box. Positive values move the shadow to the right, while negative values move the shadow to the left.
Y-offset The map shadow will move vertically in the number of pixels specified in the box. Positive values move the shadow to the bottom, while negative values move the shadow to the top.
Blur Radius The strength of the blur effect.
Spread Radius Distance of the shadow.
Color Color of the shadow.
Inner Shadow Check this box if you want to display the shadow within the border of the map.

Import Your Background Image

You can import your own image as the background of the map.

Item Description
File Enter the file path to import the background image. Or click browse button to locate the image file.
Position Choose the anchoring position of the background image.
Repeat The background image will be repeated horizontally or vertically according to the selected checkboxes. Repeating will happen if the background image is smaller than the publish size of the map. Uncheck both checkboxes if you don't want the image repeats itself.
Resize The size of the background image will be adjusted according to the options below.
  • Original Size: The size of the image remains unchanged.
  • Stretch to Fit: The image is scaled to the publish size of the map. Image may become distorted if the aspect ratio change.
  • Preserve Aspect Ratio: The image is scaled according to the proportion of its width and height. Image may become distorted if the original size of the imported image change greatly.
