The Pie Chart Data Grid is similar to the one in Region Properties. You can open tit by expanding the Map Properties Panel to the right side of the software. Pie chart can be seen under the Map Features section. Click the Edit Pie Chart in Data Grid button.

Import and export pie chart data

You can export the Region Properties as a data file or copy all properties into clipboard, and edit them using Excel, LibreOffice/OpenOffice Calc or even your text editor. After finishing your edits, you can import the data file or paste the modified data back into the Data Grid.

Export pie chart data to edit in other software

  1. Click Export Data File to the bottom right corner of the Data Grid dialog. You will be prompted to save the Pie Chart data as a text file in Unicode Text Format.
  2. Open the data file in your favorite software to change the data. We recommend using spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel or LibreOffice/OpenOffice Calc for easy editing of the data. If you are using LibreOffice or OpenOffice, you may rename the extension of the file from .txt to .csv so that Calc can pick up the file directly.

Import pie chart data into Data Grid

  1. Make sure that the header column is present, and have the same number of columns when it is compared with the original data file exported from Data Grid. Tab characters are not allowed within the data, and you must replace them with spaces.
  2. Save the data file in our recommended format:
    • Microsoft Excel: Save as Unicode Text format (.txt). This can be found from the Save as Type drop down on the Save dialog.
    • LibreOffice/OpenOffice Calc: Save as Text CSV format (.csv). This can be found from the Filterdrop down on the Save dialog. Click Save to continue. In Export Text File dialog, please change the Field Options as follows:
      • Character Set: Unicode (UTF-8)
      • Field Delimiter: {tab}
      • Text Delimiter: Delete any characters and leave it blank.
