1. What is iMapBuilder?

    iMapBuilder map software is an user-friendly, map making software. We have a desktop version for Windows, and a web app version which runs in browsers.

    No programming knowledge is required. Simply select a template in iMapBuilder, edit the map using a few mouse clicks, and you will have an interactive map ready to use with your color settings, text, and links. It is as easy as using your word processing software.
  3. Who should use iMapBuilder software?

    It is designed for both amateur and professional web designers. At this moment desktop version is only available on Windows platform. If you are a Mac or Linux user, you can consider our iMapBuilder Online.

    For professional users who have the needed technical knowledge: all iMapBuilder flash map use standard XML file to store settings. PHP and MYSQL can be used to change settings via XML dynamically. Please contact us to discuss further customization options.
  4. Can I import my own map image to make an interactive map?

    Yes you can import any GIF, JPG or PNG images, and use iMapBuilder to convert it into an interactive map by adding clickable dots and popup information boxes. Please refer to the guide here.

  5. How is Flash different from HTML?

    Image maps only allows simple click functions, Flash enables more creative and add more functions to maps on website. For example add zoomable areas with animation effects, clickable regions, popup messages and dynamic objects to the interactive map.
  6. Do I need any other software to use iMapBuilder?

    If you are able to view the maps on this website, then you already have all the software you need to use iMapBuilder for creating interactive maps. For your visitors, they can view and use your map as long as their browser has Adobe Flash Player plug-in, which is pre-installed in 98%+ of browsers today.
  7. How do I get Flash player if I don't have one?

    For Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox users, it will prompts you automatically to install Adobe Flash Player. Simply follow the on-screen instructions for installation.

  8. How do I know if I have installed Adobe Flash Player?

  9. Does iMapBuilder have Mac/ Linux version?

    iMapBuilder has launched an online version for Mac users to create the maps via the browsers without installation of software.

  10. What are the differences between iMapBuilder and FlashiMap?

    FlashiMap is for developers who prefer using Adobe Flash Professional. Source code (.fla) files are available for purchase, and can be edited using Adobe Flash for highest flexibility. It also provides XML based flash maps for programmers who prefer to update data directly into XML file.
  11. When i preview the map locally in browser, it only show blank page?

    This could be an security issue of flash player when previewing the map locally, it will be fine if the map uploaded to server. You can follow the step below to add a trust path for the preview map so as to resolve this issue.

    For Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari:
    On the affected system, go to the Flash Player Settings Manager:
    • Mac: System Preferences > Flash Player
    • Windows: Control Panel > Flash Player
    Select the Advanced tab
    In the Developer Tools section, click the Trusted Location Settings button
    Click the "Add..." button and add relevant files and folders to the list

    For Google Chrome (and other PPAPI browsers):
    Navigate to the Settings Manager page
    Choose Edit Locations > Add Locations from the popup list
    In the text field that appears, type or paste the file/folder path that you'd like to trust
    Click the "Confirm" button
    Note: Please be aware that the "Browse for files" and "Browse for folder" buttons do not function properly. You must manually type or copy/paste your path into the text field above the buttons to add the file or folder to the trusted list.
